The basic structure and function of ceramic braces is very similar to metal braces, they are made up of brackets, wires and bands. However, ceramic braces have brackets made of composite materials rather than metal which blend with the natural color of your teeth and so are considered a more cosmetic option. With all of the new technologies, metal braces are still the most widely used among Orthodontist to correct misaligned teeth or mal occlusions. They are made of high grade metals mostly stainless steel. Metal Braces are fixed appliances, made up of brackets, wires and bands. The metal bracket is bonded to the tooth with tooth colored adhesive. The bracket has a slot in which an arch wire is placed.
